(Port)Wine of the month May 2015: Quinta do Vesuvio DOC 2011

Quinta do Vesuvio is one of the oldest Quintas of the "Grande Dame de Port", Dona Antonia Ferreira. The Symingtons (Graham, Dow, Warre) acquired the Quinta in 1989 and imideately began to produce Vintage Port, but delayed the Red Wine Production at Vesuvio until 2007. Since the Vesuvio DOC is bottled rather late, it is regularly missed in horizontal press reviews and does therefore not receive the attention which it is entitled to.

Dark red colour with violet reflexes. Spicy, complex bouquet, without being overpowered. Intense, but balanced palate with milk chocolate and a red berry mix, Cherry and Cassis. Long, intense aftertaste. A serious wine in perfect balance. 19
